The Pitt Meadows secondary grade eight and nine girls soccer team have won the Fraser Valley championship.

The team beat a number of teams on the way to the final game against Semiahmoo Secondary. It was bound to be a classic game, with both Pitt and Semiahmoo not losing a game over the course of the league and playoffs.

The game was a very competitive battle, with no room for error for either team.

Keona Nordquist scored the first goal off a scramble in the 18-yard box early in the second half before Madison Ferguson made it 2-0 just moments later. Semiahmoo added a goal late in the game, but it wasn’t enough as Pitt sealed a 2-1 win.

The team consists of Kiera Robb, Raven Humphries, Kaia Golab, Avril Levins, Angeli Cooke, Ariana Reyes, Hanna Rebalkin, Keona Nordquist, Mackenzie Carter, Kirsten Koellmel, Amy Jacobsen, Grace Jorgenson, Alyssa Green, Brooke Rivet, Sara Magdalinski, Brianna Fletcher, Erica Daskis, Madison Ferguson, Gabby Hyde and Julia Pennington.
