A Pitt Meadows athlete will be representing Canada with the national under-16 inline hockey team, which is traveling to Hawaii.

A Pitt Meadows athlete will be representing Canada with the national under-16 inline hockey team, which is traveling to Hawaii this summer.

Ethan Chung will be on Team Canada in the Amateur Athletics Union (AAU) Inline Hockey Junior Olympics, taking place in July.

With more than 200 inline hockey players trying out across Canada, in B.C. – Alberta, Manitoba and Ontario – Canada Inline selected the Grade 11 Pitt Meadows secondary student.

Chung has played ice hockey with the Ridge Meadows Minor Hockey Association for the past 12 years, most recently finishing up the past season with the midget A2 team.

In his off-season, Chung connected with The Langley Hockey House’s inline hockey program in 2013 and has gone on to play in the provincial championships, the B.C. Summer Games, the Northwest Cup in Bend, Oregon and made two trips to the North American Roller Hockey Championships in San Jose, California.

Chung said there is a lot of talent in B.C. and he worked hard to earn his spot.
