Warmer weather means home plate is getting a much-needed dusting off and baseball season is in full swing.
Ladysmith and Chemainus has plenty of diamonds to keep fans cheering and bats swinging.
The Bantam AAA Cowichan team is playing out of Chemainus this year for home games.
Up next, the team plays Richmond in Chemainus, Saturday, April 23.
Game times are 1 p.m. and 3:45 p.m.
The Midget AAA Mid-Island Mustangs are using the Holland Creek ballpark.
They also play Easter weekend against Victoria, Saturday, April 23 at 12 and 2:30 p.m.
The teams do double-duty with two games a day.
The Nanaimo Senior Men’s Fastball league season starts May 3.
The first game at Wheatsheaf is Wheatsheaf versus the Just Jakes, Thursday, May 5 at 6:30 p.m.
The Nanaimo Ladies’ Coffee Softball League have started their season April 11 with high scores.
Ladysmith played in Game 3 against Communication Connection, winning 17-10.
The league plays Mondays and Wednesdays from 9 to 11 a.m.
Ladysmith baseball, from tadpoles on up, have also started it’s season.
The games will be held at Holland Creek ballpark.
