Prince Rupert swimmers were busy doing their thing (winning and getting on the podium) as part of the regional Points North team at the Prince George Dental Moose Meet on April 15 – 17.
Prince George beat Points North (Kitimat, Terrace, Rupert and Smithers) 1767 to 1134 to win the event, with Grand Prairie (728), Fort St. John (590), and Williams Lake (497) rounding out the top five.
Individual highlights in alphabetical order include Natalie DeMille (11) coming in 3rd in the 11 & under 50 meter breaststroke and 200 meter backstroke. She set new Swim BC “A” times in the 50 meter breaststroke, 100 meter freestyle and 200 meter backstroke. Malcolm Dolan (10) had his first ever Swim BC “A” time in the 50 meter freestyle (38.98). Zachary Dolan (14) won the Bronze aggregate medal (total points scored) in the 15 & under boys category. Zachary finished 1st in 50 meter breaststroke, 100 meter backstroke and 200 meter freestyle events. He claimed a 2nd in the 50 meter freestyle and had a 3rd in the 200 meter IM.
Jakob Hall (10) came 2nd in the 50 meter breaststroke and the 200 meter free. He placed 3rd in the 50 meter butterfly, and 3rd in the 50 & 100 meter freestyle events. It was his first ever “AA” times in 200 free (2:46.10), 50 meter breaststroke (48.93), 100 meter freestyle (1:17.82) and 50 meter freestyle (35.20).
Amy Leighton (14) finished 2nd in 200 meter breaststroke. This was a new “AA” time for her in the 100 meter freestyle race. Isaac Mastroianni (12) placed 2nd in the 200 and 400 meter freestyle, and 50 meter breaststroke event. He came 3rd in 100 meter freestyle and 200 meter backstroke. Jarred McMeekin (14) finished 2nd in the 50 meter breaststroke, 3rd in 100 & 200 breaststroke. Liam Pikola (12) placed 3rd in 50 meter breaststroke. Ethan Toye (13) came 1st in 13 & under 100 meter butterfly event. Hannah Toye (13) placed 3rd in 100 meter backstroke. Bailey Ward (13) had a first-ever “A” time in the 100 meter breaststroke (1:45.23). Robert Warren (16) came 2nd in the 50 meter breaststroke, 3rd in the 50 meter butterfly and 100 meter freestyle events.
