The Comox Valley Pool League 2010-2011 championships wrapped up April 2-3 followed by a wonderful dinner sponsored by the Avalanche and cooked by Go Mango Restaurant. This year the league had 76 players on 12 teams competing in an A Division and a B Division.
Players competed for two days at the Avalanche with each team playing 80 games each. The final scores in the A Division couldn’t have been any closer for the top three spots. The A side was based on the most games won with I Cue U finishing sixth place with 27 wins, Choc ‘O’ Lot in fifth with 28 wins, Classics in fourth with 41 wins, Chalked & Loaded in third with 47 wins, Screwballs in second with 48 wins and the new A Division champions this year is the Chalk-A-Holics with 49 wins.
The B Division was handicapped based on overall points, and the two teams from Sunnydale Clubhouse brought their A game and took home the majority of the trophies in the playoffs. Finishing in sixth place was Cue-Tease with 579 points, Sharks Not finished fifth with 617, Eh Shooters were fourth with 635 points, The Mex Hookers were third with 638 points, Sunnydale Sliders took second with 677 points and the B Division champions are Odds R from Sunnydale.
Every Wednesday night of league play each team gave their opponents a Good Sportsmanship rating from 1-10 and the team at the end of the season with the highest score garnered the Good Sportsmanship Award. This year’s award went to Odds R.
Player of the year was Kevin Kane from Chalked & Loaded, Top Lady was Rose Kantor from Chalk-A-Holics, Most Consecutive Wins went to Mike Gould from Classics with 16, Most Improved Player went to Shane Robinson from Sunnydale Sliders and the new Hot Shot Shooter of the Playoffs was Kyle Little from Choc ‘O’ Lot.
“All of us from the Comox Valley Pool League appreciate that even in tough times we thank our sponsors for helping make this event such a big success and in return we all will support your businesses,” said league founder Rose Kantor.
