Portland Winterhawks end Victoria Royals’ season

Royals eliminated from the second round of the WHL playoffs

The Victoria Royals season came to a quick end Thursday.

The Royals were eliminated from the second round of the WHL playoffs by perennial powerhouse Portland Winterhawks losing 5-1. Portland won the best-of-seven series 4-1.

And while defeat was bitter, it was a breakout years for Royals that advanced to the second round of the playoffs for the first time in franchise history.

There were other firsts for the two team too: most victories (48) and most points (100).
