The Victoria Royals season came to a quick end Thursday.
The Royals were eliminated from the second round of the WHL playoffs by perennial powerhouse Portland Winterhawks losing 5-1. Portland won the best-of-seven series 4-1.
Steven Hodges scored for Victoria.
And while defeat was bitter, it was a breakout years for Royals that advanced to the second round of the playoffs for the first time in franchise history.
There were other firsts for the two team too: most victories (48) and most points (100).
