Pospisil, who represented Canada in singles and doubles in the London Olympics, lost 7-5, 6-4 to No. 10 Juan Monaco of Argentina in second-round play Wednesday.

Mikhail Kukushkin of Kazakhstan defeated Frank Dancevic of Niagara Falls, Ont., 6-3, 7-5, leaving Milos Raonic of Thornhill, Ont. as the lone Canadian left in the tournament.

Meanwhile, Vernon’s Murray Bennetto, a former pro, reached the men’s singles final of the Odlum Brown Interior Open Tennis Championships at the Mission Tennis Club in Kelowna.

Top-seeded Dennis Simsek, the No. 2 player from Alberta, defeated Bennetto 6-1, 6-1 in the final. Bennetto, a former Hong Kong pro, defeated Kelowna prospect Michael Bitcon 7-5, 4-6, 6-0 in his semifinal.

In men’s doubles, Simsek and Matis Jacisek of Vancouver grounded Kelowna pro Joachim Nierfeld and Steve Kimoff of Vancouver 7-6, 6-3 in the final.
