The Princeton Posse rallied from down two in the third period to clip the North Okanagan Knights 3-2 in overtime during Kootenay International Junior Hockey League play Friday night at the Nor-Val Sports Centre.
“We had a break in our defensive coverage during the 4-on-4 (overtime), but other than that, I thought we played really well,” said Knights’ coach Jim Armstrong.
The Knights played in their second straight overtime game They downed the Golden Rockets in double overtime a week ago.
North Okanagan broke the ice when Mitchell Lukacs sniped his first of the season from Willie Daigneault and captain Dryden Profeit 8:08 into the first.
Colin Robin added a G-note from Scott Latwat 2:09 into the second.
The Posse began their comeback in the third while on the man advantage.
The two teams combined to go 1-for-19 on the powerplay.
“I’m not sure if that’s good penalty kill, or bad powerplay, or maybe a bit of both,” said Armstrong. “Once they scored on the powerplay, we got a bit tight and they took advantage. I liked our guys though; we battled and had a few great chances late.”
Colton St. John tied the game from Kyle Bergh with two minutes remaining.
Kurtis Klinger buried the winner with 1:36 remaining in the first overtime.
The Knights battled the Fernie Ghostriders Saturday night in Armstrong.
The Ghostriders smoked the Kelowna Chiefs 7-1 Friday night at Rutland Arena.
