Brent Poulsen pulled the hat trick as the North Enderby Timber ran their North Okanagan Soccer League winning streak to four games by grounding the Salmon Arm Eagle Homes Nation of Domination 3-1 Wednesday night.
NET keeper Danny Stein celebrated his 25th birthday by stoning former Timber Dave Knight with a diving, fingertip save off the post on a high, right corner penalty kick in the 25th minute at Marshall Field #3.
Poulsen opened the Timber offence 10 minutes later when he sped down the left wing, took a feed from Eric Vivian, stopped, turned and buried.
Eagle Homes (1-2) equalized in the first minute of the second half on a fast counter.
NET went ahead when Kyle Halvorson cruised down the left side, beat two defenders and put a pass through another to Poulsen for a header, for the goal of the night.
Poulsen placed a low shot to complete the scoring after 17-year-old rookie Alex Farina fed Harminder Sidhu, who in turn found Poulsen.
In other action, Monashee Surveying brushed back the host Salmon Arm Outlaws 2-0.
Matt McKeown delivered a nifty 18-yard, left-footed shot for Monashee’s opening goal, while Darren Nobrega sailed one through the Outlaw keeper’s legs to put the Surveyors up before the 15-minute mark. Ryan Sharp was sold at centre back for the Surveyors (1-1-1).
Concept Physio toppled Turn-Key Controls 2-1 in a battle of Vernon teams at Marshall #5.
Turn-Key opened the scoring off a determined run by Chris Jahing, who picked the pocket of a Concept defender and buried a low shot in the corner. Concept countered off a 25-yard shot by Enzo Paal, which deflected off a defender and eluded keeper Greg Douma.
Before the half ended Concept took the lead off of a 35-yard all-planet Paal strike. Rob McGloin had a great game on the wing for Turn-Key.
