Dustin Price is a young man who has been volunteering with the midget/bantam rep players in 100 Mile House for more than two years.

Price was once an aspiring junior hockey prospect from 100 Mile, but at that time, there were few people with the knowledge and dedication to help lead young prospects like him in the community, says local Midget rep manager Bill Forman.

He adds Price was not privy to the training regimens other hockey players his age in larger communities had access to.

“So, he has created an environment he missed out on for the local youths of any sport who want to join him and get involved in some serious training.”

Among his prodigies are Jacob Remanente and Reece Forman. Price also regularly works with Brett Harris, Travis Wilkie, Tyler Craig, Micky Turner and Kevin Raimundo.

“I just think it is truly amazing that a young man would dedicate himself to helping other even younger men fulfill their dreams and goals and do it completely unselfishly.

“Some of these kids could go on to great junior hockey or pro careers and it is people like Dustin who have helped inspire and lead them down this road.

It seems a lot of young men these days simply don’t have the time or dedication to do something like this, Forman says, adding Price is a “one-of-a-kind, unselfish individual who should be commended and thanked.

“He never asks for any notoriety, but maybe this article will inspire others, and at the same time, give credit to one of 100 Mile’s great citizens.

“My son, Reece, has truly blossomed with the help of Dustin’s dryland and gym training, and he will likely suit up in a Junior hockey uniform this upcoming season if what we keep hearing from the coaches and general manager is true. It is also likely three or four more midget hockey-aged players from 100 Mile will be doing the same next season.”
