Pride win U-12 softball provincial title

The Ridge Meadows Pride ’04 battled their way to victory at the U12A Provincial Softball Championships last weekend.

Led by head coach Sandy King and assistants Glen Follett, Rya Perry and Kira Quinnell, the team went undefeated in eight games scoring 89 runs and allowing only 15 runs against.

The Pride dominated at the plate with three home runs from Cassidy Affeldt and two from Shianne Schill.

The pitching staff of Jesse Crockett, Cassidy Affeldt, Jayme Perry and Riley Morrison were unhittable, with 46 strikeouts and only 14 walks over the weekend. Catchers Rachel Boles, Gabi Fafard and Kyla Carlson were great behind the plate.

Kylie Birnie, Chloe Follett and Reese McCambley were solid in the field. Reese McCambley’s diving catch in right field had the crowd going wild, and spectacular catches by Gabi Fafard and Riley Morrison in the semi-final against the White Rock secured the Pride’s place in the gold medal game.

The infield squad, Jesse Crockett, Gabby Fafard, Kylie Hendricks, Jayme Perry, Rylie Morrison and Shianne Schill performed exceptionally throughout the tournament.
