Lawn bowling teams from Qualicum Beach and Parksville hit the greens on Tues., Aug. 28 for their annual challenge match.

The Parksville-Qualicum Challenge starts in the City of Parksville at the local lawn blowing club on E. Stanford Ave., across from the elementary school.

Mike Ward, a member of the Qualicum Beach Lawn Bowling Club, says there are eight teams of four players in total from both community clubs – that’s around 32 players – taking part in the all-day event.

Games to see which club is the best in District 69, start at 10 a.m. in Parksville and run until after 12 noon. The series of matches then moves to Qualicum Beach and their club (on Jones Street, near the Ravensong Aquatic Centre) for games that begin in the afternoon (once they’re done in Parksville).

The clubs encourage people to come out and watch – and see which community lawn bowling club will take this year’s honours and local bragging rights.
