Serenity uses secret weapon to trip up Blue Collar; Bear extends Fraser River slide

For the second straight game the Builders were questioning their ‘tender situation.

Not the quality but the quantity of netminder that is.

This week with no bona fide goalkeeper to be found, Chris “Cinderella Story” Royle stepped up to the plate and despite a swing and a miss on his first save attempt, backstopped his mates to a 7-5 victory over BCS.

Knowing their last line of defence was a tad unorthodox, Serenity exhibited more backchecking in the game than they had all year. This led to several odd man rushes the other way as Justin “Time” Rasmussen, Cam “Shaft” Graham and Keith “The Thief” Burgess all scored a pair.

Fittingly, Jordan “Senior” Johnson scored the last goal in his last game for the Builders as he was recently traded to a mill in Kamloops for future considerations.

BCS started off the game quickly as “Jack” Russel Higdon scored into the empty net before George “John, Ringo” Paul Sgt. Peppered his first of two tallies.

Also getting into the act for the Blue Collared crew was Jim “Chucky” Sales who was a pest at both ends of the ice.

The other contest featured two netminders but only 15 skaters as several players thought that wrestling day was a Cariboo wide phenomenon.

The one-week layoff didn’t slow down the slick moves of Jason “Firecracker” Forman who dazzled his way to a natural hat trick to lead Bear to a 5-3 victory over Fraser River.

Goals by two super-sized forwards sandwiched “Firecrackers” outburst as Brody “Hidey ho” Neighbour and “RCA” Victor Hegan both scored on one timers.

Meanwhile on the Fraser River lot their coach is contemplating an inventory reduction sale as their current group just can’t buy a win lately.

Despite their fourth consecutive mark in the loss column, Fraser River is still only five points out of first so cooler heads should prevail.

Finding the twine for the Chevy Crew this week was Ian “Heartbreaker” Hannah, Shane “The Pain” Thon and Randy “Killer” Crofts with his 24th point of the season.
