A jar of pickles was an appropriate trophy, as the Quesnel Pickleball Club hosted a tournament Sunday, Sept. 20 at the West Fraser Timber Park.

Rain on Saturday forced the postponement of the men’s tournament, but the mixed and women’s championships went off without a hitch.

Sharon MacDonald and Rick Prosk defeated Jenny MacDonald and Darin Edwards in the mixed doubles finals. Sherry Jasper and Juerg Feldmann took bronze.

Jenny MacDonald and Liz Sales, who organized the tournament, won the women’s event. Second place went to Sharon MacDonald and Sherry Jasper, with Jill Walker and Doris Williamson taking third.

The men’s tournament went ahead Saturday, Sept. 26. The duo of Callum Catto and Bob Edwards won the tournament, while Kent Meyer and Juerg Feldmann took silver. Bronze went to Rick Prosk and Matthew Hender.

The winners walked away with a jar of pickles, lids painted gold, silver or bronze depending on their final standing.
