Quesnel schools participate in Terry Fox Run

Students raised money and got outside to walk and run

Quesnel Junior School (QJS) students participated in a school-wide Terry Fox Run Sept. 28.

The cross-country running team started out at 11 a.m. along with other students interested in running a 5k route, which ended at hospital hill on the Riverfront Trail.

The remaining student body set off 10 minutes later on a 3km walk.

The school had a friendly competition in place to see which house could raise the most money for cancer research.

Overall, QJS has raised $700 for the charity so far, and donations will continue until Thursday this week.

Dragon Lake Elementary also held its annual Terry Fox Run fundraiser on Sept. 27, followed by a pancake breakfast.

The elementary students raised a total of 204.20 for the cancer charity. Students were asked to bring in toonies to donate to the cause.
