The South Okanagan Minor Baseball Association Tigers dropped a pair of close games to the Tri Cities Indians.
The Tigers lost to the first place team 13-12 and 13-9 last weekend. Despite the losses, Ryan Paulhus and Khy Cutler made great catches for the Tigers. Dexter Madsen and Luke MacIntyre did well at the plate, while they received outstanding pitching from Marlo Spence. The Tigers are back in action this weekend at McNicoll Park Saturday at 12 and 3:30 p.m., then Sunday at 9 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.
Mosquito
On May 2, the Penticton Pirates earned an 8-2 win over Osoyoos in Oliver. On May 6, the Summerland Chiefs earned a lopsided 16-4 win over the Penticton Mariners at McLaren Field. Jacob Webb hit a homerun for the Chiefs and made a nice defensive play in the field. A pair of Penticton teams, the Mariners and Twins battled to a 4-4 tie. The Twins picked up a 6-4 win over Osoyoos at McLaren Field. The mosquito division is hosting a tournament this weekend. Games will be played at McLaren, Kiwanis, McNicoll and Peach Fields. Tad pole
Carson Friesen-Smith spearheaded an inning ending double play for the Reds in the top of the third and they never looked back in a 14-9 victory over the A’s at Peach Field, May 6. The Tigers also defeated the A’s, 15-3. The A’s were hurt by slow starts with their bats despite everyone hitting well by the end. John Belohorec played his best game for the A’s getting three hits and playing solid defence at third. Jordan Pierpoint was solid at the plate and helped keep the game close against the Reds with a stellar catch in the outfield that saved two runs.
On May 7, the Pirates defeated the Twins 14-9. The Pirates went of a run spree with two outs in the bottom of the fourth and were sparked on defence by Mac Aubie and Rylan McNeill linking up for a double play in the third.
Peewee AA (13 and under)
The Penticton Thunder rocked the West Kelowna Diamondbacks 11-1 on the road May 4 to 7. Cole Mohns earned most valuable player after stealing three bases. Dayne Raymond was the most valuable player against the Kamloops River Dogs in a 9-8 win; Raymond walked, hit a single, drove in a run and erased the tying run at third with an unassisted out. The Thunder then lost to the Cranbrook Bandits 12-5. Logan Goodwin earned most valuable player as he was a workhorse on the mound throwing 67 pitches and stole two bases. On May 7, the Thunder picked up a 5-4 win over the Diamond Backs.
Peewee A
Summerland 2 picked up an 11-9 win over the Twins. Brendan Lobb homered in a hard-fought loss.
