Race brings skiers from across the north

The Omineca Ski Club’s Teck Northern Cup, held on Jan. 29, attracted skiers from all across the north for a fun day of cross-country skiing. Over 100 skiers registered for this year’s race. In honour of the club’s 90th birthday, skiers were encouraged to find old time ski outfits and “ski like it’s 1927.” Here are the first place winners of each category. Tour de Omineca men 22.5 km: Tony Fiala. Tour de Omineca women 22.5 km: Irene Ronalds. Atom boys 0.5 km: Magnus Finstad. Atom girls 0.5 km: Natalie Hoehn. Pee wee boys 1 km: Andrew Blackburn. Pee wee girls 1 km: Sabina Murray. Bantam boys 2.5 km: Liam Williamson. Bantam girls 2.5 km: Chloe Williston. Midget boys 3 km: Conor Murphy. Midget girls 3 km: Lia Huggett. Juvenile boys 7.5 km: Cole Turner. Juvenile girls 7.5 km: Mia Recknell. Junior boys 7.5 km: Ryan Williams. Junior girls 7.5 km: Kaia Andal. Open men 7.5 km: Travis Carter.
