The Vernon K1 male team topped the podium in the Okanagan Zone Alpine Ski Finals last weekend at Revelstoke Mountain Resort.

The Vernon K1 male team topped the podium in the Okanagan Zone Alpine Ski Finals last weekend at Revelstoke Mountain Resort.

Anton Younberg struck gold and Gavin Donald pocketed silver in Saturday’s slalom, while Langdon Kersey was fourth. Christopher Richardson placed fourth in the Sunday dual slalom, while Jaden Parsons and Rowena Dunlop were eighth and ninth in slalom.

The Vernon K1 team won the overall Okanagan Zone title under head coach Ian Chernencoff.

Younberg took first K1 male and Katrina van Soest was third K1 female.

The VSC Race Tiger team also earned medals. Ty Ogasawara bagged a bronze in the dual slalom, Gerrit van Soest earned silver in the slalom and Braden Kersey took silver and gold. On the girls’ side, Makena Kersey won gold in both events.

Sunday saw Matt Kreutz collect a bronze in the K2 category. Kreutz also won the overall male K2 Zone crown. Teammates Gavin Vliet and Holly Clancy both race to top-10 finishes.
