The Kelowna Raiders stuffed the Armstrong Shamrocks 18-7 in Thompson Okanagan Senior Lacrosse play Friday night at Nor-Val Sports Centre.
A share of first place was up for grabs as the Raiders entered Friday two points behind the Rocks.
The Raiders (4-2) didn’t look back after jumping out to a 4-1 lead after the first frame.
“We didn’t come out of the starting blocks last night. It was a little disappointing,” said Rocks’ goalie Chad Pieper.
Vic Wiens pulled the hat trick for Kelowna, while Joe Brown added a hatty and four helpers, Luke Bailey had a pair of snipes, Scott Renner recorded a goal and six assists and singles came from Cody Evans, Corey Siegner and Jacob Illichman.
Luke Bailey entered the game leading the TOSLL but was over taken by Jarrett Medhurst’s five-goal showing. Medhurst has 11 goals and 20 points in four games.
“Jarrett is playing with some great playmakers. He has always been a good finisher for us,” said Pieper.
Medhurst scored four of his five in the second for the Rocks (4-2), while Steve Clark had four assists and singles coming from Brennan Plante and Kas Boudreau.
It was a highly spirited affair as the teams combined for 105 penalty minutes.
“It was an aggressive game by both sides. It’s always rough and tough when we play. The game normally goes to whoever can control themselves the best,” said Pieper.
Armstrong heads North to battle the Kamloops Rattlers (1-5) Friday night. The Rocks return home for a rematch with the Raiders Saturday night for the North Okanagan Lacrosse Alumni night.
