Rain returns to swamp Saratoga

Speedway suffers third rainout in a five-week stretch; Big Rig Thunder on tap this weekend

Looking for relief from the drought of 2015? Apparently the trick is to visit Saratoga Speedway.

For the third time in a five-weekend stretch, racing was cancelled due to heavy rains which fell throughout Saturday. The cancellation sidelined the Wilroc Lite Sprint cars, I.M.C.A Modifieds and the Bomber cars — and it was the second straight washout for the Modifieds and Bombers.

Extra laps … This weekend Saratoga welcomes back the Big Rig Highway Thunder. Trucks from across Vancouver Island will make the trip to put their rigs on display. The second Boat Race of the year will also be on the card; Sheldon Hopp took home the crown in the first Boat Race, giving him a huge target on his back this time. Accompanying the Big Rigs and Crash to Pass cars will be the Hornet cars and the Roadrunners, with Bailey’s Western Star sponsoring the festivities.
