The Maple Ridge Ramblers were in the Robert Bateman Tournament in Abbotsford over the weekend, and managed a win over a crosstown rival.
The first game had MRSS against a strong and experienced triple-A team from North Vancouver in Bodwell.
Ridge started slow and was down 24-10 at the end of the first quarter, but gradually worked its way back to cut the margin 62-53 before Bodwell prevailed 66-53.
Leading the Ridge attack was Burke Brussow with 24 points, Tristan Coumont with 16, Will Chartrand 14 and George Panagiotopavlos with nine rebounds.
The second game was with cross-town rival Pitt Meadows.
The Ramblers got off to a quick start up 33-18 at the half, and the final score was a convincing 75-50 Ramblers win.
The game featured some hot shooting from Coumont with 33 points, Brussow 18, Chartrand 16 and 11 rebounds from Panagiotopavlos. Brandon McRobert contributed outstanding defence and seven recoveries.
The last game had Ridge against Brookswood in a very physical game was highlighted by the Ramblers scoring 21 points in each of the second and fourth quarters to seal a 66-50 victory.
Ridge was led by some clutch shooting from Coumont with 26, the rebounding of Panagiotopavlos with nine, and Chartrand’s defence with six recoveries.
