The hockey season is still weeks away, but the Rupert Rampage have released their home schedule for the 2016-2017 season.
Some of the highlights include: their home opener on Oct. 1 against the Kitimat Ice Demons, hosting their rivals and reigning champions, the Terrace River Kings, on Oct. 15, and again on Nov. 19.
The Rampage will host their annual “Skate with the Rampage” event on Dec. 11, with admission being a donation to the Salvation Army Food Bank.
There will be one team missing from the schedule this year. The Lac La Hache Tomahawks team decided to fold recently, due to uncertainties surrounding the arena, as well as player commitment and volunteers.
That leaves the Central Interior Hockey League with six teams, all of which have their sights set on the Coy Cup. The Rampage went 7-8-1 last season, but didn’t make it out of the first round of the playoffs, losing both their games to the eventual winners, the River Kings.
