Rasmussen wins men’s club championship

Congratulations to Preben Rasmussen, who shot a sizzling 74 on Sunday for a two-day total of 152.

Congratulations to Preben Rasmussen, who shot a sizzling 74 on Sunday for a two-day total of 152 to capture the Alberni Golf Club Men’s Championship.

Congratulations also go to first runner-up Fred Fredrickson, who carded a two-day total of 155, and second runner-up Ted Stewart, who came in with a two-day total of 157.

On the net side of the competition James Weening led the field, shooting a net 63, followed by Tylo Smith and a visitor from Alberta, Blaine Southgate, both carding 64.

Then coming in with 65 was Vic Carlton and Gary Korven with 66. They were followed by Wayne Johnstone, Glen Trask, Peter Mugleston, and Cal Davies, all with 67.

Closest to the pins were recorded by Mike Savard on No. 2, (gross) and Tylo Smith (net), and Jacques Giovetti collected $30 for the charity closest to the pin on No. 4. On No. 13  it was  Jacques Giovetti (gross) and the net was recorded by Cliff O’Laney.

On No. 17 the gross went to Preben Rasmussen and the net went to Peter Mugleston.

Next week is an open day with the usual gross and net prizes awarded as well as the closest to the pins and money pots.  Please book in your own group starting at 7 a.m.
