The Terry Fox Ravens have ended the Mount Douglas Rams’ six-year run playing in a Subway Bowl final.

Terry Fox upended the Rams 34-25 in the B.C. High School Football quarterfinal round at B.C. Place Stadium on Saturday.

It brings an end to the Rams’ run as five-time champions, the AA title in 2010, and the AAA title from 2011 to 2013, and 2015. They lost in the AAA 2014 final.

It shouldn’t come as a surprise that it’s Terry Fox who ended the run, as the Rams’ often ended the Ravens’ season during the past half-decade.

“It was another epic battle between Mount Douglas and Terry Fox,” said Rams coach Mark Townsend. “The Rams showed immense mental and physical toughness, and pushed Terry Fox right to the end. Our coaching staff are extremely proud of the drive and competitive spirit displayed by all the players.”

The Rams may have lost but the team is in a great place going forward, Townsend added.

Receiver Josh Lucas ended his Rams career in fine fashion with 283 all-purpose yards on Saturday.  Lucas caught 11 passes for 131 yards and one touchdown. He also scored a spectacular 93-yard kickoff return touchdown and rushed for 35 yards.

Quarterback Gideone Kremler returned from injury and completed 12 of 23 passes for 156 yards and two touchdowns. Isaiah Cardilicchia completed eight of 11 passes for 51 yards. Grade 10 Dante Carbone made a spectacular 23-yard touchdown reception. Phil Grohovac kicked two field goals, 24 and 35 yards, respectively.

Last week three Rams were named as AAA Western Conference All-Stars, Josh Lucas (receiver), Tyrese Hogue (offensive line) and Soren Hallschmid (defensive line).
