It wasn’t the start of the high school basketball season the EMCS Wolverines were hoping for.
The Sooke senior boys team was humbled by Royal Bay Ravens on home court Tuesday night, dropping an 81-37 decision.
The two sides came out with a lot of energy, but the winds left the Wolverines sails about halfway through the first half and the Ravens never looked back.
“The energy just left the building for us,” said EMCS head coach Alex Wright. “Guys were getting hurt, a couple guys were sick, and some of our players who missed practice found it hard to keep up.”
Ryan Fehr and Garrett Gilbertson potted nine points each for the Wolverines.
The Wolverines have a chance to redeem themselves this weekend when they head to Courtenay for the Mark R. Isfeld Ice Invitational.
