The Valley Rebels beat the top team in the West Coast Senior Lacrosse Association on Monday night in Port Moody, as they downed the host Thunder 6-5.
The Thunder have a sterling 8-1-1 record, but the third-place Rebels are right behind them at 7-2 after the win.
They can close the gap further, as the two teams meet again on Friday evening (tonight) at MSA Arena at 8 p.m.
Sean Kelly had a big game for Abbotsford on Monday, with three goals and two assists, giving him five points on six goals. Jordan Hernandez and Brian Poole each had a goal and an assist, while Geordie Wells was the other Rebel scorer.
Lacrosse fans will also have a chance to see the Rebels in action on Saturday night at MSA, as they host the hapless North Shore Indians, who have yet to earn a point in the standings through eight outings.
That game is also at 8 p.m.
