The Five Star Awards Rebels roared to a 5-1 road win over the Winfield Bruins Saturday in North Okanagan Bantam Super Hockey League action

Starting goalie Jakob Aeichele kept the Bruins off the board in his 30-minute turn.  Cole Grevatt broke the scoreless tie late in the second.

Right winger Ephren Potter-Cramer forced a turnover outside the Bruin line and feathered a pass into the middle for Grevatt, who hit attack speed and let off a laser to the low corner.

To start the third, Maisun Ang-Hamilton pressed the attack, circling in the Winfield zone before snapping a sharp-angle shot to the short-side shelf.

Mid-frame, the Rebel power play clicked.  Ang-Hamilton sent a cross-seam pass to Tyler Kruysifix at the right point, and he launched a screamer to the top corner.

The 2-7-1 Bruins pushed back, but Rebel goalie Mason Bueckert put up a blockade.

Showing light-speed lateral movement, Bueckert shut down a Bruin breakaway and wraparound bid.

With five minutes left, Ang-Hamilton rifled another goal for the Rebels.  After Winfield counted a late one, Grevatt responded with a brilliant solo effort. Dancing around the last defender, he cut in and roofed Vernon’s fifth.

On Sunday, a short-staffed Rebel team fell 4-1 to the Salmon Arm Saints. Potter-Cramer set up Grevatt for Vernon’s score.

Coach Dave Grevatt commended his dee corps of Robyn Alexis, Tyler Kruysifix, and Bryce Lauer for a marvellous effort.

The Rebels will spend Christmas in third place at 6-5. The Saints are second at 6-3-1.

The first-place Kelowna Female Rockets iced the Sladen Moore Hurricanes 7-0 in Pee Wee play Saturday at Civic Arena.

A missing puck and a Zamboni malfunction at the ice clean were just a couple of the highlights from the Nedco Blazers’ 6-2 bouncing of the North Okanagan Knights in Midget Super League play Saturday night at Civic Arena.

Puck-handling wizard Chapperon Chillihitzia pulled the hat trick for the Blazers (5-7). The Knights (3-8-1) led 2-1 at the ice clean.

After a missing puck thought to be swallowed up by Keenon Jeberg’s hockey gear and a lengthy and entertaining Zamboni cleaning attempt,  Vernon stormed back with five goals.

Additional snipes came from Colton Schaper-Cotter,  Wyatt Gatzke and Nic Poirier. Dexter Weiten compiled two assists.

Aidan Wattie and Kohen Pounder each pocketed four goals as the North Okanagan White Knights shelled the Salmon Arm Leko Precast 10-0 in Atom action Saturday at the Shaw Centre.

Alex Hart and Cody Collette added singles in support of Brayden Rypkema.
