For the third time this month, the Castlegar Rebels faced off against the Beaver Valley Nitehawks and lost. This win for B.V. extends their streak to eight games now.
The opening period was nearly scoreless but Rebels’ Travis Wilkie slipped one past the goalie with just over a minute to play.
Period number two was not so kind to Castlegar.
The Nitehawks’ Jacob Boyczuk and Kyle Hope both earned a point each and took the lead. With under five minutes to go Dylan Ofner scored and the game was tied yet again.
Unfortunately for Castlegar, the Hawks had no intentions of losing this time and Spencer Mclean netted them two points before the intermission, pushing B.V ahead 4-2.
The third period played out with one goal a piece. One from Rebels’ player Travis Wilkie again and the other from B.V.’s Andrew Miller.
The Nitehawks out-shot the Rebels 52-31 and finished the game at 5-3.
The Nitehawks host the Nelson Leafs tonight and Castlegar plays Grand Forks at home January 2.
