Castlegar Rebels players JR Krolik, Kody Disher, Dylan Bowerman, Aaron Petten, Diego Bartlett and Connor Beauchamp had some floor hockey fun in Blueberry today.
The Rebels have a week-long break before competing for the KIJHL League Championship on March 26 and volunteered to have some fun with children who are in the “Blueberry Patch” Spring Break day camp program.
Krista-Lee Lefond, manager of the program, said the kids have also enjoyed a scavenger hunt, carnival day, science day and bowling.
Five-year-old Korbyn Myles said his favourite player is # 4, JR Krolik because he has “the best shots”. Seven-year-old Josh Nephin said he got all of the Rebels autographs (as did a number of other children) and was happy to pose for a photograph with Disher.
Before the floor hockey, a number of the Rebels said they were looking forward to the next round of playoffs. Asked if they cared whether or not they faced North Okanagan or Osoyoos in the final, the general consensus was it really didn’t matter.
“You have to play the best, to be the best,” said Rebels forward Aaron Petten.
