REC REPORT: Have yourself an active little Christmas this year courtesy of Grand Forks Recreation

Numerous events are taking place at Grand Forks’ pool and ice rink during the month of December

Ho! Ho! Ho! The holiday season is fast approaching and Grand Forks Recreation (GFREC) is planning many family community events throughout the month of December.

The 26th annual Senior Social will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 12 at the Grand Forks Aquatic Centre lobby starting at 10 a.m.

Join the staff for some refreshments, Christmas entertainment and good company. Please bring a snack to share with the group.

Roxul has rented the pool on Dec. 15 and 16 from 5 to 6:30 p.m. It has invited the community to come for a free swim during this time. GFREC would like to thank Roxul for its generous donation to the community.

The annual Mountain FM Old Fashion Christmas Celebration will take place on Thursday, Dec. 20 from 6 to 8:30 p.m.

The Grand Forks Figure Skating Club will be on site taking registrations for the winter session and also holding a Christmas bake sale. The little skaters will be providing a Christmas performance from 6 to 6:30 p.m.

The Grand Forks Border Bruins will be assisting Santa on the ice at 7:30 p.m. Join in with the Grand Forks Choral Society for a little Christmas caroling in the arena lobby at 7 p.m.

The free skate begins at 6:30 p.m. following ice show performance.

Free hot chocolate will be provided by Van Houtte Coffee,  Grand Forks Overwaitea Foods will be providing the cookies and Mountain FM will be on location for this event. This is a great way to kick off the Christmas break.

The CIBC Santa Swim will be held on Saturday, Dec. 22. Santa will be arriving at the pool sometime between 1:30 and 3 p.m. CIBC will be providing a goodie bag for each child attending the event. Regular pool admission applies to this event.

Bring in the New Year with the friendly staff at the aquatic centre during the New Year’s Eve Rotary family event on Monday, Dec. 31. The pool will be open from 1 to 5 p.m. for a special afternoon family celebration. Admission will be just a toonie per person. There will plenty of family activities to enjoy over the holiday season.
