REC REPORT: Spend the holidays at the Grand Forks rec centre and arena

Grand Forks Recreation noted the aquatic centre and arena will be open to public swimming and skating during the holidays.

Holiday season is a time of the year when families and friends get together and reflect on the past year.

Grand Forks Recreation (GFREC) would like to offer our best wishes for a great holiday season and to share some smiles and happy times during the holiday season. This is a great time of the year to take the time and have fun.

Go sledding, skiing, show shoeing or take a nice walk in the winter air. It is that time of the year when you slow down and take a break from your busy life.

The aquatic centre will be open for public swimming from 1 to 5 p.m. daily from Dec. 22 to Jan. 6.

Dec. 24 and Dec. 31 will be toonie nights at the pool.  It will only cost you $2 to enjoy a relaxing swim, go for a workout or just relax in the hot tub and sauna.

The Grand Forks Rotary Club has sponsored the New Year’s Eve Rotary family swim from 1 to 5 p.m.  The pool will be packed full of fun for the entire four hours.  There will be snacks and party favors available to help bring in the new year with a blast.

The Aquatic staff will be having a much-needed rest on Dec 25, 26 and Jan. 1 so the pool will be closed on for these days.

The arena will also be open for holiday public skating daily from 1:45 to 3:30 p.m.  Get your family and friends together and share a memorable time here on the ice. The admission is just $2 for each session.  The concession will be open for hot chocolate and snack.

We will be offering kids casual hockey from 11:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. and adult hockey from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. on Monday, Wednesday and Fridays.

The arena will be closed on Dec. 25 and Jan. 1. There will be no hockey on Wednesday, Dec. 26.
