Gear up for the New Year now with the help of Grand Forks Recreation.

It is only November but before we know it January will be here and those New Year’s resolutions will be haunting us.

Now is a good time to be thinking about your health and fitness for the upcoming season.

The aquatic centre offers many different classes during the week. There are morning drop-in classes or commit to your health by registering for evening programs. Swimming is a great cross-training workout. The aquatic staff will be available to help with a program specific to your needs.

The local food bank helps many families and individuals in need this time of the year. Food Bank Week will be held at the aquatic centre and arena from Nov. 26 to 30. We will start the week off with a food bank run. Grand Forks Recreation (GFREC) has partnered with the Kettle River running club to include an opportunity for the public to donate items to the food bank.

The group will then take a run through streets in downtown. The run will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 27 starting at 5 p.m. from the aquatic centre parking lot. The official food bank day will be held at the aquatic centre and arena on Wednesday, Nov. 28.

All drop-in programs and admissions to the facilities will be by donation to the food bank. We ask that you give generously to this cause.

Please pick up a November flyer for details on the upcoming community events, or give GFREC a call at 250-442-2202 or email us at gfplay@rdkb.com.
