Our local U14 girls prove that hard work does pay off.
During last weekend’s basketball tournament at PGSS the U14 girls came ready to play with convincing wins over College Hts (48-25), Dp Todd (43-22)in the semi finals and Kelly Rd (66-34) in the championship game. All the girls are by products of our local Regional Training Centre (Sponsored be Basketball BC) for upper development. The RTC girls went through 10 weeks of focused training which included sports nutrition, strength training and skills training.
Warren Cullum (head coach of the RTC program) says it is really great to see it all come together for the girls.
“They have all put a lot of extra time in trying to understand the game and improve their fundamentals. They are a great group of girls that have a lot of potential. I feel very privileged to be part of their successes.
I would also like to recognize Jessie Andres, Debbie Montgomery and Darlene Turner for all their help with this group.”
Many of the U14 girls will be trying out for the up and coming North West Summer Games team on April 29 at Evelyn Dixon Elem. This will be another great opportunity for many of the girls from our RTC program. The girls that make the Summer Games team will be traveling to Vancouver and Spokane, Washington for tournaments, and finally the Summer Games on July 19-22 in Surrey B.C.
