Nanaimo’s rep teams are facing their most important faceoffs yet. Most of the Nanaimo Minor Hockey Association’s competitive teams start playoff rounds Saturday (Feb. 5) and Sunday at the Nanaimo Ice Centre.
First up are the peewee Tier 1 Clippers, who host the Victoria Racquet Club Kings Saturday at 12:45 p.m. The bantam Tier 1 Clippers, who captured their league pennant with a 9-1 regular-season record, face Comox Valley at 3 p.m., then the Nanaimo Ryler Bulk Clippers peewee Tier 2 squad takes on Comox at 3:45 p.m.
On Sunday the Ramsay Lampman Rhodes Extreme midget A girls play South Island at 12:45 p.m. at the NIC. Also in action that day will be the Island Westcoast Developments bantam Tier 2 boys, who play Juan de Fuca at 1:15 p.m.
Other rep teams starting playoffs this weekend include the midget Tier 1 Clippers, who play at Comox Valley on Saturday, and the midget Tier 2 Clippers, who face Cowichan Valley at Fuller Lake that day.
