Duncain Cairns and Bailey Kaario each enjoyed three-point games and goalie Munroe Renouf posted his first shutout in league play Sunday as the Oceanside Midget Generals blanked Nanaimo 4-0 in Division 2 rep hockey play at Nanaimo Ice Arena.
The midgets (1-1-2) bounced back one day after suffering their first Division 2 loss of the season, 4-2 to Sooke, Saturday at Oceanside Place Arena.
In Sunday’s win, Cairns and Kaario each had a goal and two assists. Isaac Laroque-Wall and Christian Stokes also found the net in the balanced attack, and Cage Newans, Dylan Williams and Larocque-Wall each chipped in an assist.
In Saturday’s home loss to Sooke, the Midget Generals trailed 2-0 entering the third period before embarking on a belated rally. Michael Stewart and Larocque-Wall each scored goals, while Drayden Pitcairn, Jimmy Schworan and Stokes chipped in assists.
Tyler Blaine took the loss in goal.
The midgets visit Campbell River Saturday to face the Tyees, then return to Oceanside Place Sunday to host the North Island (Tri-Port) Eagles at 1:45 p.m.
Bantams stay perfect
The Oceanside Bantam Generals improved to 3-0 in Vancouver Island Hockey League Division 2 play with a 5-1 home win over Nanaimo Saturday at Howie Meeker Arena.
The bantams return to the Meeker ice Saturday for a 2:15 p.m. game against Kerry Park before travelling Sunday to face Juan de Fuca at noon.
Peewees split
The Oceanside Peewee Generals split a pair of road games last weekend, topping Peninsula 5-2 Saturday before crossing the strait to Powell River and dropping a 2-0 decision to the Kings.
The peewees will enjoy some home cooking this weekend with a pair of games at Oceanside Place Arena. The Generals will host Victoria Racquet Club Saturday at 11:30 a.m. at Howie Meeker Arena, then welcome Peninsula for a rematch Sunday at 11:30 a.m.
