Sam Davidson and Denen Scott scored two goals each as the Oceanside Generals peewee hockey team opened its preseason schedule with a 6-4 win over the Nanaimo Clippers at Oceanside Place Arena Sunday.
Goalie Max Jeffery picked up the win with a strong effort, particularly in a third period that featured several key saves while the Generals were clinging to a 5-4 lead.
The Generals trailed 2-1 and 3-2 in the see-saw game before taking control late in the second period. Davidson and Scott scored back-to-back goals one minute and 24 seconds apart to put Oceanside up 4-3 entering the third, and Kaden Wentzell notched the game-winner five minutes into the final period, just before Nanaimo scored to close within 5-4.
Jeffery then kept the visitors off the board until Drew Foreman converted off a nice centring pass from Dallas Earl for an insurance score with 3:48 left to play.
Brody Simpson collected three assists to spark the offence, and Easton Sandberg added a helper in the win.
