Kamloops This Week
The Canadian Downhill Mountain Biking Championships were held the weekend of July 23, 24, at Sun Peaks Resort.
Kyleigh Stewart of Kamloops placed second in the junior women’s division and she was not the only Kamloops area rider who found the podium.
Cheryl Beattie won gold in the open 30-plus women’s division, Dannielle Oswell finished first in the 30-plus master women’s division and Steve Boucher was third in the 40- to 49-year-old master men’s division.
Heffley Creek riders Riley Holowatiuk and Benton Kilba were second and third, respectively, in the 13- to 16-year-old open men’s division, and Kelly Kozevnikov of Heffley Creek placed third in the open 30-plus women’s category.
Brianna Kelly of Pritchard was the only competitor in the 13- to 16-year-old women’s division.
Miranda Miller of Squamish and Kirk McDowall of Anmore won the overall women’s and men’s titles, respectively. Miller clocked in at 5:44.72 and McDowall finished in 4:55.03.
