Softball has taken centre stage at the opening day of the BC Summer Games in Abbotsford.
Four games in boys action and four in girls action have already been played.
In boys action, the Thompson/Okanagan boys softball team was a little too much for the Fraser Valley this morning as they dominated that game winning 18-5 . Thompson/Okanagan jumped out to an early 4-1 lead after the first inning adding five more in the second. Fraser Valley rallied back with four runs in the bottom of the second, but Thompson/Okanagan were not to be outdone, adding seven more runs in the third inning to lead 16 to 5. Fraser Valley forfeited the game in the fourth.
In other boys action, Fraser River crushed Vancouver Coastal 15-0, North West was shut out 16-0 by Cariboo – North East and the Fraser Valley lost its second game 16-1 to Fraser River.
On the girls side, the Kootenays fell 11-0 to Thompson-Okanagan, the Fraser Valley edged out Fraser River 11-9, Vancouver- Coastal lost 4-2 to Vancouver Island Central and the Kootenays defeated Cariboo North East 8-2.
