The Acrobats competitive team traveled to Kamloops for competition last weekend. The four day meet had more than 300 athletes competing and was held in partnership with a national level grouping that was trying out to earn spots for the Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro this summer.

The club sent the largest team to this meet in Acrobats history, registering 29 athletes. We had 12 new athletes that have never competed before and did amazing on their first go out. They were Ruby Ryga, Paige Schiewe, Nyola Willms, Loren Morabito, Senna Bailey, Madeleine Hobgood, Chiara Donato, Sofie Potter, Charlise Mcknight, Suri Stewardson, and Jasmine & Kaya Sproule.

The club also had 10 podium finishes, including three gold, four silver and three bronze. The medal winners were Ruby Ryga, Starr Novakowski, Summer Novakowski, Karysn Powell, Makenna Gallon, Chiara Donato, Charley Hill, Veronica Cadden, and Scott Novakowski.

This is a great event where some of the provincial athletes were able to train alongside world and Olympic gold medalists and be able to talk and meet these legends of the sport.

It was an awesome event for both the first timers and the veteran athletes. We are now training hard for the provincial championships, which are being held in April in Langley B.C.
