Revelstoke Derailers eke out win over Kamloops Wreckers

Revelstoke Derailers defeat the Kamloops Wreckers 264-256 in their first roller derby bout of the summer on Saturday.

They didn’t make it easy on themselves, but the Revelstoke Derailers managed to defeat the Kamloops Wreckers in their first roller derby bout of the summer on Saturday.

The Derailers won 264-256 in a game that came down to the final few plays and an extra jam that almost decided everything.

The game started out tight, with Revelstoke gaining a lead it would never relinquish, despite Kamloops’ best efforts to come back. At one point, the home town girls had about a 40 point lead, but the visitors slowly chipped away at the lead.

The game came down to the final few jams. In what should have been the final jam, the Wreckers got within 12 points,. However, a replay was called after the referees determined an improper penalty was called in the final jam. That gave Kamloops a second chance at the win. They picked up four more points, but the Derailers blockers were able to prevent any more points from being scored to hold on to the win.

The Derailers are back in action at home on Saturday, June 21, against the East Side Wheelers.
