The Revelstoke Grizzlies picked up points in all three games last week, winning once, tying once and losing in overtime on Saturday night.
The team’s week started on Tuesday, Jan. 24, when they hosted the Sicamous Eagles at the Forum. The Grizzlies got off to a roaring start, getting first period goals from David Lenzin, Tyler Chavez Leech and Raphael Bassot to jump out to a 3-0 lead after one.
The Eagles attempted to claw their way back into the game, scoring two goals in the second period, but Dylan McNeil got one for the Grizzlies to make it 4-2 after two periods. Daniel Fisher finished the scoring with a empty netter late in the third for a 5-2 final.
Defenceman Matthew Monk picked up four assists in the game, while Giovanni Sambrielaz stopped 33 shots for the win.
On Friday, the Grizzlies played host to the Chase Heat. Revelstoke had a strong first period and was rewarded with goals from Jacob Bourchier and Bassot two minutes apart late in the frame.
Lenzin scored 4:09 into the second period to make it 3-0 Revelstoke, but after Chase turned up the temperature. Kolten Moore scored a short handed goal and Josh Bourne scored on the power play to bring the Heat within one at the end of the second period.
The teams went back-and-forth in the third period, with Chase fighting hard to tie the game. With 2:14 left, former Grizzly Kaden Black tied the game to send it to overtime. The extra periods were wild affairs, with both teams enjoying plenty of chances. The two goalies – Sambrielaz for Revelstoke and Nic Bruyere for Chase – stood tall and the game finished a 3-3 tie.

On Saturday, the Summerland Steam chugged into Revelstoke for Aussie Night at the Forum. Chavez Leech put Revelstoke ahead early in the first, but former Grizzly Steven Fiust tied the game before the period was over.
The teams combined for five goals in the second period, with Mitchell Lavoie and Tommy Bodtker scoring for the Grizzlies, and Wyatt Gale (two) and Riley Pettitt potting goals for the Steam.
Revelstoke found themselves down by one heading into the third but Jason Lane scored an unassisted marker early on to send the game to overtime. The first period of 4-on-4 solved nothing, sending the game to five minutes of 3-on-3. Unfortunately, with only 1:25 to go, Scott Robinson scored for Summerland, letting them return home with a 5-4 win.
The loss spoiled Chris Wielenga’s effort in net; he stopped 51 of 56 shots in a losing cause.
The results did little to change Revelstoke’s spot in the standings. With seven games left, they have a 16-21-1-2 record and need one more point to clinch a playoff spot.
The Grizzlies are in action twice this weekend. On Friday, they play the Heat in Chase and on Saturday they host the 100 Mile House Wranglers at the Forum. On Tuesday, Feb. 7, they host the Eagles.
