Revelstoke will play host to the national amateur motocross championships this summer, an event expected to bring hundreds of dirt bikers to town.
The Canadian Motorsport Racing Corp. is hosting its Grand National Amateur Championships in Revelstoke from August 17-20.
The four-day event will feature races in a huge range of classes, from youngsters on 50cc machines to elite amateurs from across the country.
The race is being put on by MCQMX, which hosted the snow bike races in Revelstoke this winter.
The event was made possibly by a $70,000 revamp of the Revy Riders dirt bike track last year that saw the lap time extended by 30 seconds and the track widened.
According to the press release, this is the first time in 25 years the championships have been held in western Canada. It’s also the first motocross race to be held on the Revy Riders new track.
The event begins with practice and qualifiers on August 17, followed by three days of racing from Aug. 18–20.
