Shea Bibby led the way for Revelstoke athletes at the BC Summer Games, winning a bronze medal in the javelin in Abbotsford last weekend.
Bibby launched the javelin 45.93 metres to get on the third step of the podium. Matthew Arnold narrowly missed the podium in the hammer throw, finishing fourth with a 39.35 metre toss.
Nine Revelstoke athletes competed at the games in Abbotsford, with eight taking part in track & field and one as part of the Thompson-Okanagan volleyball team.
In the discus, Bibby finished eighth while Logan Ancell finished in 17th spot.
In the shot put, Arnold came in eighth, while teammate Jacob Ancell came in just behind him in ninth spot.
In the 1,500 metre steeplechase, Hayden Mallett finished ninth while Simon Blackie was hot on his heels in 10th spot. On the girls side, Miika Park finished 11th.
Mallett also finished 12th in the 2,000 metre and 16th in the 1,200 metre.
Simon Blackie finished 10th in the steeplechase, while Miika Park finished 11th in the girls race.
Blackie was also part of the Thompson-Okanagan 4×400 metre relay team that finished fifth.
Riley Wallach finished sixth in the long jump, while Logan Ancell added a 16th place finish in the javelin to his results.
Aleks Klassen was part of the fifth place Thompson-Okanagan boys volleyball team.
The BC Summer Games brought almost 3,000 of the province’s top young athletes, along with hundreds of coaches and officials, and thousands of volunteers, to Abbotsford to compete in 18 different sports from July 21–24.
