Samantha Richdale is back on golf’s Symetra Tour this weekend after a productive month on the CN Canadian Women’s Tour.
In May, the 29-year-old Kelowna product won the first Canadian Tour event of the season in Tsawwassen.
Then, earlier this week, Richdale finished second at the second tour event of the year in Cowansville, Que.
Richdale carded a two-day score of two-under 142 (70-72) to finish three shots back of winner Jennifer Kirby of Paris, Ont.
Kelowna’s Kyla Inaba tied for 23rd (77-74) with 151 total.
In two stops in Canada, Richdale’s pocketbook has received a nice boost with nearly $17,000 in earnings.
More importantly, her game is in good shape as she heads into this weekend’s Symetra Tour event in Decatur, Illinois.
“I struggled a little bit with my ball striking (in Quebec), but I was pretty happy with my short game,” Richdale said while driving to Decatur on Thursday morning. “All in all, I’ve been playing pretty well this year, so hopefully that will continue and there’ll be some more wins out there.”
Richdale is currently 15th on the Symetra money list with $9,570 in earnings. The top 10 at season’s end will receive playing cards on the LGPA Tour for 2014.
“I’d really like to get a win on the (Symetra Tour) this year, that would obviously help a lot,” said Richdale who played three seasons on the LPGA Tour, from 2010 to 2012.
With her win last month in Canada, Richdale has also earned a berth into the CN Canadian Women’s Open, Aug. 19 to 25 in Edmonton.
