Nine Ridge Meadow Racers competed in the 2015 B.C. short track championships in Vanderhoof on March 7 and 8, and six made it to the podium.

In Division 1, Janie Green took gold in her T2T-13 age class, winning every heat and coming first in the 200m and 400m events and third in the 1,500 and 3,000m.

Division 2 saw Annabelle Green on the podium with a bronze medal in the T2T-11 age class.

In Division 4, three of the four medalists coming from Ridge Meadows.

Tim Song sat atop the podium with gold and teammates  Marshall Shupe with bronze and Tahlon Flamma an iron for the T2T-13 age class.

This is the second year in a row Song won in his age group.

In Div. 5A, there were three skaters from Ridge Meadows: Jared Bolland saw a bronze podium finish; Adam Abbott just missed a podium finish, finishing fifth overall; and Sammy Green, one of the youngest competitor in this division, saw a seventh-place finish.

In Division 6A, Rohann Chassay and Catalina Shupe represented Ridge.

In Chassay’s 1,200m B heat, he finished third, which placed him in the A final, in which he was fourth with a PB.

In the 200m, he finished third overall.

In the 400m races, Chassay was able to place second in his C heat, giving him opportunity to race in the B final, in which he placed first.

In his final 2,000 m points race, Chassay finished 5th in the A final, wrapping up his first experience at a placing fourth in his division and 16th overall in Division 5A B.

Shupe was one of three girls that were in the L2T category and saw a silver medal around her neck at the end of the weekend.

As a result of provincials five skaters, Janie Green, Annabelle Green, Tim Song, Marshall Shupe and Tahlon Flamma qualified for Canada West Championships that will be held in Selkirk Manitoba March 20-21.
