The Ridge Meadows Royals midget triple A team downed the league’s top team on Wednesday.
The Royals defeated the Cloverdale Nationals 10-3, improving their overall record to an impressive 24-13-1. They are the reigning provincial champions, and were also league champs last year.
So far this season, Cloverdale is the top team in the league with a record of 23-4, while Ridge is third at 15-6.
Starting pitcher Josiah Williams threw six innings, allowing three hits, seven walks and two earned runs. He struck out five.
At the plate, Hayden Tupper went 2-3 and had a two-run homer. Nick Peters went 3-4 with a double and three RBI, while Brayden Slaughter was 3-4 with three RBI.
Peters recently signed a letter of intent to play ball for the Thompson Rivers University Wolf Pack ball team next season.
The Royals are on a nice roll, having beaten the West Kelowna DBacks by scores of 9-8 and 9-4 on Sunday, which gives them a 6-0 season sweep of the Okanagan club.
The midgets will be back at Hammond Stadium this weekend, taking on the White Rock Jr. Tritons at noon on Saturday, then playing a double-header against the Tri-City Indians on Sunday, with games at noon and 2:30 p.m.
