THE TERRACE River Kings launch their bid for the 2016 Coy Cup today with a 7 p.m. game against the Fort St. Flyers.
The Fort St. John Flyers are the 2015 Coy Cup champions by virture of defeating the River Kings in last year’s final game for the provincial senior men’s AA title which was held in Fort Nelson.
Also playing in the four-team tournament are the Smithers Steelheads and the Whitehorse Huskies.
The four teams are featured in two games today, two tomorrow and two Thursday to determine who plays in the semi finals Friday night and then the final Saturday night.
Today’s first game is at 4 p.m. at the Terrace Sportsplex with the Steelheads playing the Huskies.
All afternoon games are at 4 p.m. and the evening games at 7 p.m.
Tickets are available at Sonny’s Collectables, All Seasons Source for Sports, at the Sportsplex office during the day and at the door.
The River Kings were cheered on with speeches and best wishes at a Saturday pep rally held at Terrace Totem Ford.
Terrace goalie Patrick Leal was also honoured at the rally by being presented with the Central Interior Hockey League goalie of the year trophy.
For patrons at the beer gardens at the games, the Thornhill Pub is making its passenger van available for rides home.
