The Mission Secondary Roadrunners senior girls rugby team returned home sixth in the province after the AAA provincial tournament, which wrapped up on Saturday in Abbotsford.
Mission opened the tournament on Thursday, falling 41-15 to the Cowichan Thunderbirds, but then bounced back in a big way on Friday with a 64-7 win over the South Kamloops Titans.
That victory propelled the Roadrunners to the fifth-place game on Saturday, where they lost 27-12 to the GP Vanier Towhees.
The event, hosted at Abbotsford’s Rotary Stadium and the surrounding Exhibition Park fields, saw the Carson Graham Eagles win the AAA title, the Abbotsford Panthers win the AA title and the Alberni District Armada win the Tier II championship.
Rotary Stadium next hosts the junior and senior boys rugby provincials, which both crown their champions on Saturday.
