Rockets and Blazers head to Game 7

Kamloops ties up best-of-seven WHL first round playoff series with shutout win

The Kelowna Rockets and Kamloops Blazers are going the distance.

Former Rocket Gage Quinney scored twice and added an assist to lead the hometown Blazers to a 4-0 victory Saturday, forcing a seventh and deciding game in the WHL quarterfinal playoff series.

Blazers goalie Connor Ingram made 26 saves for his first career playoff shutout, including a possible game-saver early in the second period.

With Kamloops leading 1-0, Rockets captain Rodney Southam fired at a wide open net, but was foiled by Ingram who sprawled across the crease to make a stick save.

For the second time in three games, Michael Herringer was pulled from the Rockets net, giving up three goals on 13 shots.

He was replaced by Brodan Salmond who stopped 19 of 20 shots.

Collin Shirley and Garrett Pilon also scored for Kamloops.

Game 7 goes Monday night at Prospera Place. Game time is 7:05 p.m.
