Rockets continue eastern tour with stop in Calgary

Following a shutout win a night earlier in Red Deer, Kelowna plays its second last game before Xmas tonight against the Hitmen.

With one in their last two games before Christmas, the Kelowna Rockets will finish on the upside of .500 on their seven-game WHL road trip.

The Rockets, who are 3-2-0 since leaving home last week, will visit the Hitmen tonight in Calgary.

Tomorrow, Kelowna closes out its eastern tour in Edmonton against the Oil Kings.

Last night in Red Deer, the Rockets (20-12-2-0) blanked the Rebels 3-0.

Brodan Salmond was named the first star making 34 saves for his first career shutout.

Erik Gardiner scored his first career goal and chipped in with an assist for second star honours. Kole Lind, with his 19th, and Nolan Foote, with the game winner, also scored for Kelowna

The Rockets were 1 for 6 on the power play and were 3-for-3 on the penalty kill.

Kelowna was without Dillon Dube, Calvin Thurkauf and Tomas Soustal, all of whom are with their respective country’s teams at the world junior hockey championship.
